Tooth whitening
Have you always wanted to have whiter teeth? Have you got an important occasion such as a wedding to go to?

Teeth usually discolour with age but many patients find that they have stained teeth due to tea, coffee, red wine and tobacco consumption. The tooth whitening process is a successful and simple method of lightening the colour of your teeth. Your dentist can advise on whether you are suitable for treatment based on your tooth and gum condition.

Before and after

whitening

We offer two methods of whitening at the practice:

Home whitening
Your dentist will take a mould of your teeth to custom-make a close-fitting mouth tray for you. The bleaching trays are created with areas to hold a reservoir of whitening agent against the teeth. As the tray is lightweight you can wear it comfortably while you are awake or asleep. Whitening gel is then placed in the tray, which you can wear while asleep or during the day. Results are normally seen within 2-3 days with the full effect achieved after 21 days. Once made, the trays can be kept and all that is required is more whitening gel.

In-surgery power whitening
Alternatively your teeth can be lightened at the practice using a whitening solution that is applied to your teeth and activated by a light. Your gums are protected with a material applied by the dentist. This process takes approximately 60-90 minutes and results can be seen immediately afterwards!

We recommend that in order to achieve the best results patients combine in-surgery whitening with home trays.

Individual teeth can be whitened; this can be especially useful for root-treated or "dead" teeth.
