White fillings
We are now able to use the most up-to-date white filling materials to avoid unsightly silver amalgam filling should you wish. White fillings take longer to place but produce a good aesthetic result. Cheaper silver amalgam fillings are still used at the practice as they are very strong and lasts for many years.

What are the advantages of white fillings?
The obvious advantage is the appearance. The tooth will actually look like a natural tooth after it has been filled. Quite often it is almost impossible to tell the tooth even has a filling in it. Other advantages are that the material is bonded to the tooth, meaning less destructive preparation of the cavity.Teeth with bonded fillings are less likely to form stress fractures in the future. It is also well known that white fillings do not contain mercury unllike silver amalgam fillings.
